IF YOU CHOOSE FEATHER MOSS

Our Feather Moss is a seasonal selection of living mosses chosen for their soft, spreading, branching growth. It isn't one guaranteed botanical species, which means the exact texture and shades of green naturally change throughout the year.

The mix may include or resemble common British woodland mosses from genera such as Kindbergia, Brachythecium and Hypnum. We select it for the way it looks and grows in a terrarium rather than guaranteeing a particular species.

MAKE IT YOUR OWN

Add a tiny solid-brass frog for a wonderfully unnecessary resident, or choose a rechargeable Mini Mister for giving living moss a gentle, fine spray.

Gift wrapping is also available if you're sending your tiny woodland directly to somebody else.

HOW TO BUILD IT

Add the drainage layer first, followed by the substrate. Arrange your chosen living moss on top, give everything a gentle mist and add the lid.

Clear instructions are included, so this is designed to be enjoyable even if you've never made a terrarium before.

CARING FOR YOUR TERRARIUM

Keep the finished terrarium somewhere cool with bright, indirect light and away from strong direct sunlight or radiators.

Because the jar is closed, moisture is recycled inside the terrarium and it should require relatively little watering once established. Keep the moss lightly moist rather than soaking wet. Here's how a closed terrarium waters itself.

A NATURAL, LIVING PRODUCT

Real moss isn't uniform. Colour, shape, texture and growth will vary naturally, and occasional brown material is part of the normal renewal cycle of living moss.

That also means the terrarium you make won't look exactly like the photographs — or anybody else's.

A SMALL GIFT WITH SOMETHING TO DO

This isn't a ready-made artificial decoration. The recipient gets to build the landscape themselves and then watch a genuinely living little ecosystem settle in.

Choose Feather Moss if you prefer a softer, spreading woodland-floor effect. Choose Bun Moss if you want a rounded, more sculptural mound of moss.

Do I need terrarium experience?
