These Bun Moss Snippets are small, hand-selected pieces of fresh living cushion moss—perfect for filling gaps, creating miniature details and adding little bursts of green to terrariums, mossariums, bonsai displays and other tiny planted worlds.

They’re selected from our larger living cushion moss, also known as bun moss, and sorted into smaller usable pieces ready for more detailed planting.

WHY CHOOSE SNIPPETS?

Whole cushion moss buns make wonderful statement pieces. Snippets do something different.

The smaller pieces allow you to build up a landscape gradually, add detail around existing features and place moss in spaces where a full bun simply wouldn’t fit.

HOW TO USE THEM

Place each snippet onto damp terrarium soil or another suitable moisture-retaining growing medium. Press the base gently against the surface so it makes good contact without crushing the moss.

Arrange the pieces close together for fuller coverage or leave spaces between them to create individual miniature hills. Extra-long terrarium tweezers can make precise placement inside small glass containers considerably less fiddly.

WHEN YOUR MOSS ARRIVES

Open the parcel promptly and remove the moss from its packaging. It may look slightly compressed or less vibrant after travelling—this is normal for live moss.

Place it somewhere cool with bright, indirect light and give it a light mist if it feels dry. Once it has had moisture, fresh air and time to settle, it should begin acclimatising to its new home.

CARING FOR YOUR MOSS

Cushion moss enjoys cool, humid conditions with bright, indirect or diffused light. Keep it away from strong direct sunlight, radiators and other sources of heat.

Mist when the moss begins to feel dry rather than following a rigid daily schedule. Rainwater or distilled water is ideal, particularly in hard-water areas.

Moss inside a closed terrarium generally requires less frequent watering. If the glass remains heavily fogged or water collects in the base, remove the lid temporarily to allow excess moisture to escape.
