LITTLE GREEN HILLS, GROWN BY NATURE 🌿
Cushion moss — also affectionately known as bun moss — grows in wonderfully plump, rounded mounds that look like tiny green hills.
It’s one of my favourite mosses for creating miniature landscapes, adding height and texture to terrariums, mossariums, bonsai displays and woodland-inspired gardens.
Choosing between cushion moss and feather moss? Read our cushion moss vs feather moss guide to find the best living moss for your terrarium.
This is real, living moss — not preserved or artificial.
CHOOSE YOUR AMOUNT
🌿 1 Bun – one individual cushion moss piece
🌿🌿 2–3 Buns – a small selection for terrariums and miniature landscapes
🌿🌿🌿 4–5 Buns – a fuller selection for larger projects
Every piece is naturally grown, so size, shape, colour and height will vary. That’s part of what makes bun moss so lovely — no two pieces are quite the same.
PERFECT FOR
• Terrariums and mossariums
• Bonsai displays
• Miniature and fairy gardens
• Houseplant arrangements
• Woodland displays
• Natural craft and botanical projects
CARING FOR YOUR CUSHION MOSS
Cushion moss enjoys bright, indirect or diffused light and consistently moist conditions.
Mist with clean water when the moss begins to feel or look dry, but avoid leaving it permanently waterlogged.
Keep it away from strong direct sunlight, radiators and other sources of heat.
As a natural living product, its appearance can change slightly through the seasons and during transit. Once settled into suitable conditions with moisture and indirect light, it should begin acclimatising to its new home.
A NOTE ABOUT REAL MOSS
Your moss comes from the natural world.
Occasionally it may contain tiny fragments of leaf litter, soil or other signs of its woodland origins. I inspect and prepare it before dispatch, but I don’t sterilise it or turn it into something nature never intended it to be.
That’s because this is living moss, not preserved decorative moss.
BUILD A TINY WORLD 🌱
Pair your cushion moss with activated charcoal, LECA clay pebbles, long terrarium tweezers, a fine-mist plant mister — or give your tiny landscape a resident with one of our little brass frogs or Buddha figurines.
You’ll find them all in The Moss Fairy shop.
Carefully packed in Bristol, England.
Bring a little piece of the forest home.
