Activated charcoal isn't the most glamorous ingredient in a terrarium. But hidden beneath all that lovely green moss, it's quietly getting on with something useful.
A thin sprinkling of charcoal helps absorb impurities and unwanted odours, making it particularly handy when you're building a closed terrarium or mossarium.
WHAT TO DO WITH IT
When you're building your terrarium, add a thin layer of activated charcoal above your drainage material and beneath your growing medium.
You really don't need very much. This 200g bag will go a surprisingly long way, particularly if you're making smaller mossariums.
It's also useful mixed into houseplant compost, especially where you want to keep things free-draining and fresh.
