ABOUT YOUR FEATHER MOSS

Feather moss has a loose, leafy character, with branching growth that spreads across the substrate to create the appearance of a miniature forest floor.

Our Feather Moss isn't one guaranteed species. It's a seasonal selection of living mosses chosen for this soft, spreading growth habit. Depending on natural availability, it may include or resemble British woodland mosses from genera such as Kindbergia, Brachythecium and Hypnum.

The precise mix, texture and shades of green vary naturally throughout the year, which means every little mossarium ends up slightly different.

MAKE IT YOUR OWN

Choose the standard kit or add a tiny solid-brass frog, a rechargeable Mini Mister, or both.

The frog adds a wonderfully unnecessary little resident to your moss world, while the Mini Mister produces a fine, gentle spray that makes it easier to keep the moss hydrated without rearranging the entire forest.

HOW TO BUILD YOUR MOSSARIUM

Build the drainage and substrate layers inside the glass globe, arrange the feather moss, add the decorative pebble and finish with a gentle mist.

Your kit includes clear assembly and care instructions, so no previous terrarium-building experience is required.

CARING FOR YOUR MOSSARIUM

Place your finished mossarium somewhere cool with bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, hot windowsills and radiators, as the glass can quickly become too warm.

This is an open terrarium, so check the moss regularly and mist it when it begins to feel dry. It should remain lightly moist rather than soaking wet. Rainwater or distilled water is ideal where available. Our live moss care guide explains exactly what to look for.

WHEN YOUR MOSS ARRIVES

Living moss can become compressed and slightly duller during its journey. Gently loosen it and mist it if it feels dry. It should begin recovering its natural shape and colour once unpacked and placed in suitable conditions.

If you're not building your mossarium straight away, leave the moss in its bag somewhere cool and dark. Refrigeration can help keep it fresh for longer.

A NATURAL, LIVING PRODUCT

This is real living moss rather than preserved or artificial moss. Its colour, texture and growth pattern will vary naturally. Small amounts of brown growth, soil, leaf litter or other woodland material may occasionally be present.

That's the nature of putting an actual piece of living green into a glass globe.

A SMALL BUT IMPORTANT NOTE

This kit contains a glass vessel and small components. It can make an enjoyable supervised family project, but it isn't a toy and should be assembled with adult supervision.

Can I add the brass frog and Mini Mister?
