This little kit creates a green landscape inside a round glass globe using live cushion moss—also known as bun moss. Its naturally rounded, hummocky shape means every finished mossarium will have a slightly different character.

The glass terrarium measures approximately 10cm in diameter. Its compact size makes it suitable for a desk, shelf, windowsill or bedside table without demanding ownership of the entire room.

MAKE IT YOUR OWN

Choose the standard kit or add a tiny solid-brass frog, a rechargeable Mini Mister, or both.

The frog adds a wonderfully unnecessary little resident to your moss world, while the Mini Mister produces a fine, gentle spray that makes it easier to keep the moss lightly hydrated without disturbing your carefully arranged landscape.

HOW IT ARRIVES

Your glass globe, living moss and terrarium layers are carefully packed separately for transport. The fun bit—putting the tiny world together—is left to you.

Build the drainage and substrate layers, position the bun moss, add the decorative pebble and give everything a gentle mist. Full assembly and care instructions are included.

ABOUT YOUR BUN MOSS

Cushion moss (Leucobryum glaucum) grows in naturally rounded mounds that resemble miniature green hills. It makes a strong focal point inside a small terrarium and looks particularly good beside a pebble or an extremely small brass frog.

This is fresh, living moss rather than preserved or artificial moss. Its size, shape, height and shade of green will vary naturally.

CARING FOR YOUR MOSSARIUM

Place your finished mossarium somewhere cool with bright, indirect light. Avoid strong direct sunlight, hot windowsills and radiators, as the glass can quickly become too warm.

This is an open terrarium, so check the moss regularly and mist it when it begins to feel dry. Aim for lightly moist rather than soaking wet. Rainwater or distilled water is ideal where available.

A NATURAL, LIVING PRODUCT

Every piece of moss is naturally grown, so the exact shape, colour and texture will differ from the photographs. Small traces of soil, leaf litter or other natural material may occasionally be present.

Your moss may look slightly compressed after travelling. Open the package promptly, gently loosen the moss and mist it if it feels dry. It should begin recovering its natural shape once unpacked.

A SMALL BUT IMPORTANT NOTE

This kit contains a glass vessel and small components. It can make an enjoyable supervised family project, but it is not a toy and should be assembled with adult supervision.

Is the moss live or preserved?
