The glass vessel measures approximately 10cm wide × 10cm high, excluding the natural cork lid: compact enough for a desk, shelf or bedside table, but large enough to create a proper little landscape.

WHY BUN MOSS?

Bun moss has a dense, rounded form rather than the loose, spreading fronds of feather moss. It creates the look of a miniature hill or a tiny patch of undisturbed woodland, and the sprigs of feather moss add a soft, frondy contrast around it.

Every piece is naturally grown, so its size, shape, height and shade of green will vary slightly. No two mossariums will be quite the same—which is rather the point.

BUILDING YOUR MOSSARIUM

Your kit arrives with the components separated for safe transport. Begin with the clay-pebble drainage layer, add the terrarium soil and position your bun moss on top.

Try to preserve its naturally rounded shape rather than pulling it apart. Tuck the feather moss sprigs around it, add the decorative pebble, give the moss a gentle mist and replace the cork lid.

No specialist tools or previous terrarium experience are required.

CHOOSE YOUR KIT

Choose the standard bun moss terrarium kit or add a miniature solid-brass frog.

The frog shown in the photographs is only included when the frog option is selected. It is entirely unnecessary, but does make a very good resident for a tiny moss world.

HOW TO KEEP BUN MOSS HAPPY

Place your mossarium somewhere cool with bright, indirect or diffused light. Keep it away from direct sunlight, radiators and other sources of heat.

The cork lid helps retain moisture, so you should only need to mist when the moss or substrate begins to look dry. The aim is lightly moist—not waterlogged. (Here's how a closed terrarium recycles its own water.)

Rainwater or distilled water is ideal, and no fertiliser is needed. Light condensation is normal; if the glass remains heavily fogged, remove the lid for a few hours to allow some fresh air inside.

WHEN YOUR MOSS ARRIVES

Please unpack the living moss promptly. It may look slightly compressed or less vivid after travelling, but should begin to regain its shape and colour once it has been misted and allowed to settle.

Because bun moss is a natural living product, its precise shape, texture and colour will differ slightly from the photographs.

What's the frondy plant in the photos?

That's feather moss. Bun moss kits include a few sprigs of it alongside the bun, for a softer, more varied landscape.

Is the brass frog included?
